Synthetic turf, most commonly referred to as artificial turf or artificial grass, was invented over 40 years ago with the intent to improve physical fitness for people that lived in urban areas and were unable to exercise.  Indoor facilities were created and thus "Astroturf" was born.  Flashing forward to modern use, the newest material in synthetic turf is made from renewable sources such as plastics and soybean.  The same principles that applied back then still apply today; make a great product for improving our lifestyles.
Many different types of material are used for different types of applications.  There are polyethylene, polypropylene, KDK Thiolon, curly or twisted thatch, and combination materials with all of the for mentioned materials.  The backing behind the turf is usually polyurethane with drainage holes but can have a foam backing and other types of backing depending on where the turf will be used or the manufacturer.

PolyLawn turf has many varieties.  If you are looking for the most realistic lawn, the most commonly used turf today is approximately 2 inches in length and has an "in-fill" of round sand, angular sand, specialty sand and rubber.  The length of turf you choose depends on the look you want and how you want to use it.  Synthetic turf may be installed over almost any surface.  Some of the most common surfaces are natural ground, lawn, concrete, asphalt, existing rock "beds" or gardens, even existing worn down "old style" artificial turf areas.  To see the standard of industry installation procedures of the proper base preparation and turf installation, visit  www.asgi.us

This site was created to be informative for the "do-it-yourselfer" or as we prefer it, professionally installed.   Artificial grass or synthetic turf has risen in popularity because it just makes sense to install when real grass is troublesome.  PolyLawn is guaranteed to make you sigh in relief!

Our lifestyles these days are busier than ever.  We want to spend more time with our family and friends.  We want freedom to sport and travel around.  Imagine never having to mow again.  No more grass debris, grass allergy, noise pollutant, and let your flowers flourish!
